Just second guessing my decision to go with the XDm 5.25 in 9mm vs 40. Went with the 9mm for cheaper shooting and faster follow up shots with the lower recoil. I talked to some guys at my local match and they said they don't use power factor so 9 is the way to go. Works great if I don't shoot any other matches...
Almost thinking I should have bought the 40 and a 9mm conversion barrel. Too late now! Is it possible to meet the power factor with a 9mm? |

Limited and tactical have a minimum .400 caliber for major. This is only applicable in USPSA Multigun Rules. Outlaw where power factor is not an issue 9mm is king. |
| USPSA Nationals is using time plus scoring this year so Major powere factor won't be an issue there either. I woudl expect the major power factor isseu will be a thing of the past in the next 12-24 months in all 3 gun matches. You made the right choice with the 9mm. Now get a couple extended base pads and kiss reloads good bye. |

Buffalo Bore makes a flat point jacket 9mm round, 124 grains @ 1300 fps. That puts it in 357 mag. territory. And it is not unpleasant to shoot from a XD sub-compact or an full size XDM. 124*1300/1000=161.2 Power Factor which is a little shy of the 165 require for USPSA major power factor. You gotta load your won if you want to make major 9mm but 9mm major isn't allowed in USPSA limited, Limited 10 or Multi Gun. Only Open division allows 9 major. |

But you're probably right as its easier to score time plus. Pat |

Not that its a huge deal. I just prefer shooting a match where A zone hits and major power factor are rewarded. Pat |

USPSA is the dominant set of pistol rules but there are all sorts of multigun rules. |

I understand your reasoning for wanting one set of rules it would make life easier when it comes time to purchase equipment. However there is also a certain amount of flavor in having different rules at different matches that is fun. That is just my opinion. |

For the most part any gear we purchase is adaptable for all rule sets isn't it?
9mm handgun is fine for the "Outlaw" matches because of no power factor. It is also fine in USPSA but you will be scored "Minor" Shotgun can only hold 8 rounds max for a shoot? Plug your current 9 or 10 round tube to only hold 8. Can't bi-pod with cinched mags? I am guessing you can figure out what needs to be done. I am a big fan of "variety" in matches. Whether it be scoring, targets, or rules associated with equipment. We don't all have to agree with the diferent rules but it falls upon the competitor to take the time and read the rules prior to signing up for and attending the match. |

How competitive would you be if you shot .40 loaded to a minor power factor (AAA makes .40 loaded to 130PF)? I get .40 brass for little to no cost so obviously it would be a cost benefit as long as there was no performance impact. Very competative. When I shoot tac optics I shoot my Edge in 40 and it holds 21+1 rounds with my good mags and 20+1 with my standard type mags. Pat |

I like being able to load for power factor. .40 minor feels sooo good to shoot. If I need major for USPSA it's not a problem. |
