New to all of this...I know what 3-Gun is...kinda.  Just picked up a Benelli Supernova Tactical with extended tube. (7+1 on 2 3/4 shells)

Is this sufficient for beginner 3-Gun? Looking at possibly getting into competition if I think I'm good enough after some practice time with the new AR and Supernova. Thanks!

Don't worry about gear just go shoot some matches. Run what you have. Get started and get some experience. As long as you are safe nobody cares about your gear. You'll find what works and what doesn't pretty quickly. The people you'll meet will be so helpful you will be amazed. Just go shoot.

I normally use a Benelli Nova thats a 24inch barrel with a Nordic Components extended tube.  Works very well in Heavy Metal for me!

It should be perfect to start with.  Something to bear in mind.  You can run 8+1 in 3 gun.  So you will be one round short compared to your competitiors.

thanks man. i'm picking up my new AR upper friday, and plan on breaking that in along with the benelli this weekend. what do you suggest for a pistol? 9mm or .40? i recently got rid of my springfield XD-40 bc it was too big for concealed carry, but plan on getting something smaller (most likely glock) in the near future. i know barrel length is proportionate to range, so should i just go back to something 4" or can i run 3-gun with a subcompact? just looking for opinions. i'm mostly concerned with building up the long gun skill right now, as my pistol shooting skills are already decent.

Most guys run 9mm in 3 gun.

The Glock 34 is the most common Glock model you will see out there.
