As a left handed long gun shooter I have looked into this quite a bit. There are certainly a lot of options out there, and I am very happy with my ambi-accesorized AR15. My question here is about lefty shotguns. I have noticed more than once that dealing with the right handed controls on my Stoeger 3500 is a bear. I know that the M2 and the versamax are both available in lefty. Are there any suggestions or warnings about what to look for and try out as far as lefty shotguns go?

I appreciate the help.

I'm a lefty as well so curious to see some of the responses. I know on some over / under shotguns, like my browning citori, the Palm swell is fitted for a righty. It doesn't effect me much, but may be something to look for. I think on a semi auto, shells ejecting in front of your sight picture would be the main reason to consider a left handed shotgun.

I have a lefty Benelli M2.    Great shotgun.   Other shotguns are available left hand like the Beretta A400 series, and now Mossberg has a left hand 590.

In my opinion don't bother with getting a left hand shotgun.   To reload my Benelli I reach over with my right hand and load a shell into the port, it would probably be faster to just load into a right hand port as it is right there.  The Italian shotguns also let you switch cast around with the right spacer.

The Benelli safety is easy to switch back and forth as is the Beretta and of course with a Mossberg it does not matter.  Some people are distracted by "shells ejecting across their field of vision".  I guess - but if that really distracts the shooter I personally thing they're not concentrating.   Just my .02.
