I got myself a couple of the ap 4x4's and have had some trouble loading them and getting the shells out smoothly.   I also kept catching the side of my finger on the spring and getting it cut up a little.  So I decided to try removing one of the springs holding the shells in (I did what would be the spring that holds the front of the shell on each shell)  and the results were pretty good,  I as getting the shells out with fewer hang ups and fumbles and also not cutting my finger up anymore.  I tried to get shells to fall out with some running and jumping and couldn't get them to fall out.  So my question is has anyone else tried this?  Do you see any down sides to removing a spring from each shell?

Thanks for you input,

Josh

One thing I did......line inside of the caddy with the 'fuzzy' side of velrco.......then you can remove the springs altogether. The shells are help in very nicely, regardless of the number and they come smooth.
