I had one for a few seasons. Not a great gun, high on maintenance also pretty expensive getting it configured to shoot well for 3 gun. My biggest compliant is the barrel. It should have been a ribbed barrel not that goofy cantilever sight mount. If you are buying you can get a much better gun for the money spent on a Beretta 1301, a Bennelli  M2 or a VersaMax.

I have comments about the SLP here:  Shotgun choice poll thread thing

If I was buying, the three that Don listed are the ones I'd be after.  Personally, since I quadload and dualload, I'd be more likely to pursue the VersaMax or M2 because the receiver can be cut down farther than on the 1301.

My SLP runs well but it took replacing the barrel copmletely and adding aftermarket sights, loading port work, extended lifter, cutting down the stock, obviously mag tube extension.......to get it where it needs to be.

Maintenance isn't bad on it IMO.  Replace carrier dog spring and mag tube spring every 1000 shells or so, good to go.  Find shells it likes and use those.....the only shell that gave mine trouble was Federal bulk pack.  Win AA light target, Estate cheap stuff, Remington STS, Fiocchi slugs, Federal slugs....all of those run.

The gist is, Don listed the ones you should be looking into.  Nothing is "wrong" with the SLP (it was the hot choice several years ago besides the M2), it just isn't the right product out of the box for the 3gun game and is inefficient path to get there versus other choices.
