I bought a new JM Pro in June and put a box of shells through it and the gun worked flawlessly. I didn't use it again until I entered a local 3-Gun match in September. After a few rounds, it started double feeding shells. After clearing, it would fire a few and then double feed again. It got to the point I had to single feed each shell just to make it through the stages. When I got home, I loaded the tube and cycled the bolt by hand, and it would double feed shells.
I called Mossberg and they told me to ship the gun to them and that normal turnaround was 7 to 14 days. Well, last Friday was day 22 and they still can't tell me what's going on. All they will tell me is the gun is in house, not if anyone has looked at it, when someone will look at it if they haven't, what's wrong with it, if it needs parts, nothing. I don't know what upsets me more, the fact the gun doesn't work right after such short use, or the poor customer service I am getting. The gun only has a 24 month warranty, and they have it for almost one of those months. This is the first Mossberg I have owned, and I am not a happy camper. I guess the only person that gets good service is Jerry Miculek since his name is on the gun. |

I've had nothing but good experience with Mossberg CS, but I've never sent a gun back.
I've had several bird guns (835's and 935's mostly) and just replace parts as they wear out like springs and extractors. They used to sponsor us with guns back when we were making hunting videos. My 930SPX needed a new barrel because the sight was canted, and they had one to me in about a week. I talked to Jesus (The hispanic one, not the hebrew one) and he took care of me. As for your actual issue, what shells were you using? Did you try adding a little tension to the shell keepers by tweaking them a bit? This has worked for me on a few guns that were dropping shells or double feeding with certain cheap loads with more rounded lips. |

This has worked for me on a few guns that were dropping shells or double feeding with certain cheap loads with more rounded lips. I used Remington 2 ¾”, 1 1/8 oz, 7 ½'s. The first box worked fine and then I had the double-feed problems. I did not tweak anything on the gun. When I first called Mossberg I was hoping they might suggest something I could try, but they said send it back so that's what I did. I did some searching on this forum and the Web, and it seems that others have experienced the double-feeding problem as well. I just wish I could get some kind of answer out of Mossberg. If they told me hey it's gonna take 3 more week, I'd live with it, but not being told anything gets me PO'd. |

You didn't mention so I'll just bring it up. Mossberg ships their guns out with some packing/lube/grease/tar/etc.. on the gun and if not cleaned off from the start, will cause all sort of issues, including double feeds. I got my JM and was amazed at how incredibly sticky the stuff is. I was warned early on to completely clean the gun before shooting.
Depending on what issues they discover and return the gun to you. Get ya a large bottle of Hoppes and go to it!! Hope you get it all worked out, I love my JM Pro |

Assuming that there really is nothing wrong with the shotgun, I also suggest you try a different brand of shells. I have not tried any of the Remington, but my 930 really hates the Winchesters. I get feed issues with them; not all the time, but often enough to really suck. I tried Federal next, and it will eat them all day. There are 3 of us using the same shotgun, and with the Federal it will run till we are done. As usual, YMMV. I treat semi-auto shotguns like I do .22LR weapons.. try a bunch if different brands and styles till you find what it likes.

Mine eats the Estate clay loads by the case, but chokes at least twice a mag on the Winchester SuperSpeed / SuperTrap junk |
