Rock River 16 inch heavy chrome lined

My main question is what type of optic

Depends on the comps you plan on running in
my 3 gun was set up with a 1x4. But i found that the
events held locally didnt go out far enough for me to take it of 1 power
Switched to a eotech and now going to try with irons

I see most still shooting the 1x4 set up. Which is still my fav

Run what you already have in Tactical Limited division (iron sights) and get some match experience under your belt. If you enjoy Tactical Limited, consider buying a quality red dot sight (Aimpoint w/2MOA dot, Leupold Prismatic or EO Tech are the only ones I would consider - I run an Aimpoint ML3). This would still be legal under most Tactical Limited rules.

If your local matches have a lot of long-range shooting and you have trouble seeing the targets/getting hits, then you can consider a 1-4x... there are plenty of these out there at all price and performance points. This would put you into Tactical Scope division, which can be considerably more competitive. I would NOT recommend a red dot with magnifier - this is an evolutionary dead-end for 3-gun.

Pick up a variable optic scope. That is what I did instead of going the red dot w/magnifier combo.

Check the EE on ARfcom for good deals on scopes.

A 1-4X is the easiest setup for new shooters.  It takes a lot of practice to shoot out past 200 yards accurately with a red dot setup.
