I'm looking to buy a decent scope to shoot a few local 3 gun matches and plink with. I want to stay under $400. Here's a few I'm looking at. Feel free to post other suggestions.

| Burris MTAC 1-4. It is available in 2 reticles. I have both. The new inverted horseshoe dot is the one I prefer but both are excellent. Also the NEW Millett DMS is now daylight visible with its doughnut/dot reticle. I have the older version which is not as bright and it is OK. The new one would be my choice after the MTAC inverted horseshoe. Glass on the Burris is better. |
| Vortex Strike Eagle 1-6x24 on sale for $280 with promo code July4th. |

I'll second this scope. Vortex warranty is hard to beat. You break it, they repair or replace it, period. And it's a good quality scope. |

Hows the optical quality on the strike fire? I actually like the recticle on the Primary Arms 1-6X Scope with Patented ACSS better.
I'm pretty sure I've talked my self into something with 6x or 8x so I might be willing to spend more to get better optics. maybe the Burris XTR 2 or even the Vortex 1-6x24 Razor HD Gen II 30mm Rifle Scope. |

For the price, the Strike Eagle is hard to beat as far as glass quality. But the Razor HD Gen II is a much better scope. If you have the cash, splurge on it. But once, cry once. |
