I was reading the rules for multi gun limited class. It says you may have one non-magnified optic.

On long range rifle, I tend to be very good with iron sights (at least when I am concurrently shooting high power).  I tend to be a bit slow on short range. I like to have my sights aligned for every shot, and this hinders my double taps a bit with iron sights.

Is this rule interpreted so that one may only have one sighting system, as in a red dot OR iron sights, or could you have a red dot AND iron sights? I am thinking in particular of a gooseneck mounted Aimpoint or similar optic to an A2 carry handle.

Thanks!

Yes, you can have both irons and a red dot. For most of us this means a single red dot on top of the receiver plus maybe flip-up BUIS, However, I have seen one or two folks who use traditional irons for long range and an offset mini red dot for close range. You could also use the goose neck arrangement if that worked for you.

As always, the final arbiters are the match officials (and perhaps an arbitration committee), and rulings by DNROI. The USPSA multigun rules are comparatively new, so there is no telling what any given MD/RM is going to rule at any given match. I have heard a few outlaw matches rules that you can have EITHER irons OR optic, but not both . Thankfully, I think these folks are in a minority.
