Is it me or is it hard to find local matches in the Northern Virginia area? I have been checking the various calendars for any and all types but there is very little to be found. Any matches would good at this point. Anyone know of any events or the best place to find them?

Thanks for looking.

3 Gun Nation AR15.com Local Match Listings

You might hit up the local forums and then ask the guys over on the Brian Enos forums.

Wow, thanks for the link to the forum.

I checked the 3 gun site but there was nothing in VA.

Thanks again!

I'm in the same boat. I just moved to the area and have found nothing as well. There seems to be the occasional match here and there but not a steady schedule of anything. I'm also having a tough time finding an outdoor range that isn't private. The NRA range is good, but it's only 50 yards. Where do you shoot around here?

It's us not uncommon to drive 2 hours to find a 3 gun match.

I have been here a while and have pretty much shot everywhere. I was just over at the silver eagle group and was thinking of joining their range. Nice place with 3 ranges and a sim course. $35 a month for all you can shoot with member only days. It's the nicest indoor range in the area and even has a rife range.

Ok, good to know. I am starting to see that as a reality.

Here in Oklahoma our local club does 3 gun then our 3 gun crew drives 1 1/2 to Tulsa for a match, 2 hours to Wichita Falls, TX, 2 hours to Gainseville, TX and occasionally 3 hours to Ft. Smith, AR.

I've stopped by the Silver Eagle Group to look around, but have not shot there yet. How long are the ranges? And what is the deal with the sim course? Can you just shoot it, or is it events only? Thanks

Here is a link to a calender of shooting events in the VA/MD/WV area, including 3G events: http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_8_24/447876_Shooting_matches_in_VA_MD_WV____Updated_03_Mar_2012.html

Recently the FNH 3-Gun nationals was held at Peacemaker, about 1.5 hours from NoVA, Summit Point usually runs 3-gun matches, Cavalier rifle and pistol club (~2 hours) runs a monthly.  Blackcreek outside Richmond (2 hours).  Thurmond runs a month shotgun match and Fredericksburg has an annual 2 gun match.

I recommend the IWLA in Centreville, VA 100 yard outdoor (membership opens up in March 2013), (bench, freehand, prone shooting)  or 340 ~1.25 hours from NoVA which can support steel, movement, etc and 300 yd? outdoor.  There is a new range coming on-line Colonial Beach area that will support movement and USPSA/3-Gun type practice.

If you want to tune up on pistol, there usually is a USPSA or IPSC match every weekend within driving distance of NoVA.

Here is the link to their site and range info Da Eagle They have three ranges, rifle, "tactical" and pistol range.

I talked to the guy about the sim course and it does get used for the public, they actually had a zombie course set up that weekend. Not sure how often that happens though. I have shot a good deal of sims and its fun but gets expensive if you are paying.

Gun prices were on par with others around here I guess. Its so close to me, its hard for me not to use them.

Thanks for the update!  I added the ones I was missing to the list.
