I finally took a picture of my gear before heading out to Tac Pro Saturday for some 500yd. work. One rifle with DPMS receiver and one with BRO receiver. Both have WOA barrels and JP triggers. The shotgun is a Salient M2 and the G35 has a Vanek trigger, Dawson sights, and a LW 9mm conversion barrel for outlaw matches.

I have a buddy with a membership and I am thinking of joining since I can be there in less than 1.5 hrs. It's one of the few places you can practice with you rifle, pistol, and shotgun the way we shoot at matches. It's only 125 per year and no other ranges allow FMJ, rapid fire, or have a 1000 yard range.

Its not the shotgun I would pick, but its what I had.  I have yet to have a shotgun stage slow me down as far as shooting goes.
I am pretty fast with the GRS.  Now reloads, that's a different story, but that isn't the gun's fault.  I haven't seen a reason to switch
yet, my M1 is dead reliable, smooth, and fast.  I'm used to it, and unless I find a crazy deal on an M2 field with a 21" barrel, I'm
sticking with it.  This is my first season with the 3G1 rifle, so I'll be getting used to it, maybe next year I'll break in a new shotgun.

Same here - I'm going to keep rocking the GRS until I win a M2 or SLP. Could take a while.

Remington 1100 12ga (U of KY Model ) with shortened DMW Easy Loader and Nordic Extension. Paint job, action and barrel work (shortened, forcing cone lengthened and threaded for screw in chokes tubes) by yours truly.

Para Ordnance P16-40. Extended magazines (DP Base pads) with 21 rounds of 40 S&W. Built up from a stock model by me.

The rifle (no pic handy) is generally a 16” AR with A2 stock, FF forearm, Miculek comp and JP FCG.

One of the local clubs has 3 gun matches on the pistol range with no targets past 75 yards . I'll sometimes use a 9mm AR and XDM (also in 9mm). The XDM is stock other than some trigger work. The AR runs a RRA upper and mag block (UZI mags) and a JP trigger.

The other day I posted my 'stock' 3-Gun Setup here.  Since then I've been to my second match and some changes are still in order.  The above pic is from said match, the shotguns are a Mossberg 930 (which did fantastic) and a Remington 1100 (which did not perform well in the slightest).  The dissipator is a DIY build of mine topped with a C-More sight, and the Eotech'ed carbine is DPMS with some upgraded internals.  The two red dots weren't zeroed in, which was actually fine in the short range but did not work out so well for the 50+ yardage shots.  It's all a learning process I guess, two matches on and I still have a lot of work to do.

EDIT:  Revamped gear and more at the bottom of this page.

Cant you only start with 8+1 for the shotgun in Lim/Tac? Wouldnt a 21'' have done the trick? Or are you one of those funny fellas that likes to load right after the timer

Depends on the match. If I am shooting USPSA matches I put a plug in the magazine and its 8+1. For local outlaw matches they don't have a limited so I take the plug out. The reason I got a 24 was simple. They only had 24's and 26's in locally. It was on sale for $1100 so I grabbed it.

If it makes it easier for you I don't regret the 24. Its way lighter than the M4 I used to have nd is still easy to handle and manuver.

That is a good solid set up to start with. I would add a comp to the rifle when you can afford it. I only wish three gun was around in my area when I was in college. Count yourself lucky to be starting this sport when your young.

Started at age 13. Haven't got much better since . I'm semi serious when shooting NRA high power, but I mainly shoot 3-gun for fun and to practice with my self defense weapons (all pictured above).

Loaded up to shoot my first ever Tac Optics match a few weeks ago at the 3GN Championships

FN SLP- I smoothed out the loading port a little
Glock 34- 25 cent trigger job and Dawson sights.  I use Arrendondo mag extensions for 23+1
Franken AR- Sabre 18" barrel, Samson 12.3" Evo rail, Adams Comp, Dueck offset sights, ADM mount, Burris 1-4 TAC30, JP trigger, Sabre lower, Vltor fixed stock

I really enjoyed shooting the Glock at this match, I could get use to a pistol that holds more than 10 rounds.

You "had some extra parts" so you built two guns with Noveske barrels, UBR stocks, and Troy handguards?

Will you adopt me?

Next time you have a box of "extra parts" that's laying around in your way, send it to me. I'll pay the shipping. :) I'd love to have a Noveske barrel... Unfortunately they may as well be made of unobtainium.

Seven matches now under my belt and my kit has undergone many changes and additions.  Complete overhaul on the shotgun, new rifle build from scratch, and a new pistol that is just about finsihed in the tinkering department.  Had a jogging stroller in my garage for the past seven years or so, it never dawned on me to convert it to a cart until very recently.  Finally got a legit competition belt as well with accompanying pouches.  Overall the equipment portion is pretty much finished, now it's just practice, practice, practice.
