I Like the arrendondo button. It requires drilling and tapping, but the stock part you are drilling is only about $20-30 drilled and tapped means it's gonna stay put http://www.arredondoaccessories.com/category.cfm?cid=1004,2008&PID=fc25l4901tgfeq&GID= |

That exact part broke on the very first stage of the High Plains shotgun match in 2009 on my M1 S90. The pressed in button snapped off and I couldn't drop the bolt after the unload and clear command. I have since moved to the Progressive Machine cover type release and Nordic will be releasing their own version of that design. Also you have to unscrew the paddle to dissasemble the shell/bolt release for repairs or replacement. My .02 M50 |

I got it for $500 and traded in a crappy .40 Sigma, so I only paid $275 out of pocket. It was the last one of that model the store had and they were closing it out. It's not quite twice the cost of a Sigma, but it's 10 times the gun. The trigger could use a little work but for now I'll shoot it as is. I found instructions to do it yourself here so I'm going to give it a try. I've done couple of my own trigger jobs in the past so it looks like something I can handle. Maybe it's just psychological, but the extra barrel length seems to smooth things out and help accuracy a lot for me. I'm a horrible shot with a pistol though. I really like the ergonomics, it just points naturally and fits my hand perfectly. The only thing I don't like is the slide release. It's tiny and really stiff, so it's a little hard to release. I could see that being a problem under stress. Hopefully that will get better with break in. I need to pick up another mag or two for it. I'm guessing two mags won't cut it. I haven't found any for sale locally so I guess it's time to hit teh interwebz again. After building the AR my wife is getting tired of packages showing up at the door. |

California Competition works ones are okay, but there's better out there. |

They do cost more, but its better then buying the CCWs and then buying the Ottos later. I dislike the CCWs, but for around half the price of the PMs and Ottos they are an option if you don't want to spend the money.

Most styles only really work to hold in the total number of shells, the Progressive and Mark Otto one's have a spring that will hold any number of shells in the holder. |

I also love my Mark Otto shell carriers.

Arfcom taught me that two is one, and one is none. That's why I always bring
six guns to a 3-gun match. |

When i try 4 i run into trouble and drop one so i havent given it much practice. So my question is are you grabbing all 4 on the Otto rig? and how is this working well? Whenever i do pull off all 4 rounds i have to slow down more than it seems worth. Also i have never had any trouble with it not holding rounds, full or not. thanks |

If you have short fingers it may be more difficult to impossible to do four at a time. Get dummy shells and practice. Before the Otto's I had a shotshell holder with a spring similar to the CCW's. I lost quite a few shells when moving quickly. |

Thanks for the info. I have the dummy rounds, and i practice with 3, im just going to have to put in the time and work through the frustration of not loading 4 as smooth as i can 3 for a bit.

More info on different belt setups would be great. I'm surprised that more people don't go with police duty belt setups with a 2" (or so) nylon belt, a few belt keepers, and an inner belt. The competition belts I've seen (CR Speed Belt seems to be the most popular) seem to all rely on velcro and once you get a bunch of pouches on there, you aren't left with much velcro contact between the two belts. It's also nice to be able to just throw the belt on and fasten the buckle without having to thread any excess belt material. Any reason I shouldn't go that route?

If I was to buy now I would get the Safariland clip thingy setup. I currently run the CR Speed and just bought the stick on velcro from Walmart and used the "hook" part on the back of each mag pouch and holster and the outer belt holds on the inner belt with more contact points. A pistol, two pistol mags, 20 shotgun shells, and one rifle mag stays stuck on the inner belt with the extra velcro applied.

A narrower belt that is stiffer is going to be more comfortable. Do like TruePunisher says and just get some extra velcro to use on the clips and it will be just fine |
