Got this one a while back.  Don't have a lot of time to dedicate to the thinning out of the population on the local sod farm, but I am going to try to get out more often.

My friend works on a sod farm and is in charge of taking care of nusance animals, this little piggy was rooting up the Sod when we ran into him.  I'm currious as to how many of you are using AR's for hogs and what caliber you are using?

Nice porker.

Hogs + flames = good food.

Get out more often if those things are prevalent on your friends farm.

yeah, we were going to eat him but I ventilated him pretty good.  {Note to self, check the ammo in your mags before deploying}  Winchester Frangible ammo don't work to good on soft targets, just pokes holes.  I want to get in on one of those Tactical Pig hunts like hi_techrancher does.

I use my 6.5 Grendel and .50 Beowulf (both in AR format) to take hogs here in FL. Not tried my 5.56 yet, but probably will soon. .50 Beo ventilates very well. Never have to look for them.

If I star getting to go more often I think I may try the 450 bushmaster or 458 socom.  Haven't done a lot of research on them...  If anybody could advise...

I REALLY like my Beowulf. We could debate all week on what is better. I'd definately NOT consider the Bushie because of the ammo (and bullets available). You would probably want to reload any of them if you bought.

Great pic... I am going Tuesday with two co-workers.  One of the co-workers has a large piece of property that is over-run with hogs and they are doing a number on the place.

I have not decided what I will take as of this point... one of the three:

18" 6mmx45mm AR

16" .50 Beowulf

18" 6.8 SPC

I want to use the BW, but if I do, I would be limiting my range.  Co-worker says shots up to 300 yards are possible depending on where the hogs enter the field.  I think I will use the 6.8 SPC loaded with 110 Gr. Sierra Pro-Hunters.... I have yet to take anything with that rifle.

Nice Hog.

I haven't used 5.56 on a hog yet, but might in the near future. Thinking about getting a 6.8 upper to use for hog hunting.

I use a RRA in 458 socom with the 300 grain hollowpoints loaded by oorbon.

I've shot several and none of them ran. Usualy they just flop down and squeal for a 30 seconds if that.

Great pics and good eating too!

I am using the prohunters in my 6.8 and it has worked wonderfully on deer and pigs.  Good choice!

I use .223 mostly Black Hills for the Hogs but have had great results with Barnul as well.  I have yet to lose one.  Last one I hit in the gut near the back hip and he kept going but then finished him off with my next shot.  First shot was from 200 yards with him ina dead sprint (I was also in a Jeep that was going about 30 mph trying to cut him off) after I hit him he turned and headed straight towards us.  At about 75 yards I hit him right between the eyes and he did a complete sommersault and dropped dead on the spot.
