I've been pretty dissapointed this year. I dont hunt quail, but i plan on it as soon as i get a dog, and it seems where i hunt (north-west texas) the quail numbers are WAY down. Last year all i heard every morning was quail....this year nothing.

It seems like the coyotes are thick which might have something to do with the low numbers. We had a wet year for our standards, so i am shocked.

Anyone else seeing low bird numbers?

Oh ya the 1st dove season sucked this year too...

I'm not in TX, but you should start killing some yotes if you think they may be part of the problem.

'possums, skunks and racoons cause more damage to the birds than a coyote ever will.

You see many feral cats? they cause moe damage than any wild animal....

No, the only cats running around where i hunt are bobcats (which are VERY plentiful)
