I got 2 today and 1/2 of another. The 1/2 was one that my buddy missed and it turned into us. We both unloaded on it at about 25 yards. Lots of holes in that bird. My son Alec came w/ us. He missed the 2 he shot at, but learned allot, and had some fun, he also got to try out his new 20ga.

It's nice to know that I'm not only the only one who hunts crows in NH. Too bad the seasons over already.

I see them as a target of opportunity.    I've never set out to specifically hunt them, but they have died as a result of my gunfire.

I set up with a caller and call them in, it is fun with all the fast shooting and birds dropping.
I also like shooting them with my Rifle, I cut one in half one time with my 17 HMR

I'm guessing MT doesn't have a very big crow population. When I was out in WY I don't remember seeing any crows. I did see quite a few ravens though. Ravens are a protected unhuntable bird.
I don't feel bad for you at all though, you have way more 'yotes plus P-dogs. No prairie dogs here.

here are the results of my hunt on the Conn river yesterday. I was hunting the VT side and the action was pretty good. I shot 24 a personal best for me.

I had this old bartender that worked for me, when he was young back in the 40's he would help local farmers out by hunting crows.  He and his brother would take an decoy owl and attach a bunch of fish hooks to it and set it on a tree branch.  A crow would invariably attack the owl getting caught on the hooks.  With all the squawking the bird made would attract crows from everywhere to its defense.  Where out came the shotguns and down went a whole lot of birds.

The extra noise works, a few years ago I shot a crow out of a low tree in my yard, he was moving on the branch and I winged him, he went down into a little thicket and was squawking its head off when about 150 crows showed up, lit in the trees and was trying to figure out what the hell was going on as I was shooting about 15 more of them from my Kitchen window
they figured it out and took off, I walked down to the thicket and they were all dead so the coons and opposums ate well for a few days.
I HATE CROWS and I can not think of one farmer that likes them, I watched them pull an entire row of sprouts before I could get the shotgun out

Old timer I know told me a trick for killing crows by the dozens...

Get the fake Owl and mount it on a fence post, then settle down in the hide.

First wave of crows will come in, to attack. Let them.

Second wave of crows will join the first bunch. Let them.

Once the 3rd and final flock arrives, it's like they go into a bezerk feeding frenzy. Now open up with everything you got, they won't care. Something about safety in numbers or so much squawking that they don't care about the shotgun blasts....

Well when is the dates of your season ? our season here in Ohio is 9 months long, BUT we are only allowed to shoot crows on Fri, Sat and Sunday.
Our season goes OUT March 15th and comes back in on June 15th, or close to the dates but it is only out for their 3 month breeding and hatching season
