| In a waterfowl forum I frequent there is always this discussion about "Floating" a 4th shell with certain autoloaders. One guy from NC said the CO's there were actually writing tickets to guys that were hunting with shotguns that could float a 4th round. Anyone heard of this? I can't believe it would hold up in court. |
| Yes happens all the time in KS, NE, and CO. The minute you make the effort to float another round in the gun shows intent. Pretty easy way to get another round in your Benelli if you are required to use a plug, just pop the round out when you see the warden walking up. If you are too stupid to do that, you might as well not have the plug in at all. |

So you are saying that the wardens were writing tickets to guys that were hunting with guns that could float a 4th round? Not writing a ticket for floating a 4th round, but writing a ticket for having a gun that could? I don't know if that would hold up or not. Why not write the guys a ticket because they are using shotguns that could be loaded with lead shot? |

I'm trying to understand what "floating" a round is?
I have a Benelli Super black eagle (left handed, how cool is that?). Its designed to fire 3 1/2 inch shells. Set up to hole 2 in the mag, I can instead get 3 - 2 3/4" shells in it. Is that what you mean? Don p.s. most of the time its got an 8 round mag extension on it. But not during duck season. |
