Hello everyone, my name is Zach and I am from Michigan. I will be ordering a new gun shortly this week and would like everyone's opinion. I would like a gun that can shoot heavier rounds but I am only finding the standard 1:9 twist with an occasional 1:8 twist. I was looking more towards the guns like a Rock River Arms Coyote Rifle  or a Bushmaster ATACS Varminter Rifle, both in 20" barrel. Please give me your suggestions. I would love to be able to shoot from 30yds to 300yds if I have to. Thanks and have a great day.

I like RRA and the Wylde chamber 1:8 twist SS barrels which  are very accurate and will shoot 77 grain down to about 50 grains.  The 1:9 twist will shoot 69 grains and maybe heavier as each barrel  can be unique.   I tend to shoot more lighter bullets than heavy and I have no issue with 1:9 or 1:8 twist barrels.  A buddy has a 1:7 twist 16" that will not shoot some of my 50 grain PSP reloads but my 1:9  shoots the less than MOA.

I am just gonna go with a 1:9 20" barrel.

I'd go with a shorter barrel in 1/8 twist

If you're into a longer barrel, I'dstart  with this :
http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/ar-15-05/complete-uppers/psa-20-hammer-forged-cl-mp-stripped-upper.html
$100 for a lower +parts kit minus trigger group
Add a 2 stage RRA trigger for $100 or a Geissele for $180
PRS stock for $180
Add a nice YHM free float for $100
$900 for a nice varmint rifle that doesn't weigh a ton in the field

Go with the 16 inch barrel and lose 1.4 lbs.

Lighter and shorter is better.
