I use a 12 gauge for general use and most generally load it with 2 3/4", 1 1/4 ounce, 4 shot. I use this in a 590 A1 (20") with a cyl bore as well as an 870 with a 22 " modified choke are they acceptable for a yote at around 25 yards or should I use something else?
Thanks

4 shot is for birds. Use buckshot for coyotes and a modified or full choke at 25 yards and a full out to 40, with a turkey choke past 40.

My best results with my 1187 were with Remington 3" 4 Buck and a Rem extra full choke.

I generally just take my turkey gun and whatever turkey loads I have for it.  Right now its Heavy Shot 3" shells and an appropriate ported choke (cant remember brand).  I'm good out to about 60-70 yards with it on yotes.  I don't save the hides though, just keeping calves safe.

You kill coyotes at 70 yards with bird loads?

I been killing foxes with Buck #4 that I got recommended to by Rizzo. Haven't gotten to test it on a yote yet, but I am sure he could testify to the results it can do.

Thanks for the help, I'm going to pattern some Remington 3" # 4 Buckshot 41 pellet, the guys at predatormasters seem to like it.

#4 buckshot is pretty much the standard for coyotes.

The guys that run them with dogs around here use buckshot, they are usually at a full sprint when they go buy so the rifle doesn't help them much.

The callers use a rifle though if it is safe to do so.

The smallest shot I would use on coyote is T shot but I prefer #4 buck
