OK, so I am going to try some trapping; you guys have me hooked and I haven't even started yet!
I’m going to go with some Bridger #2 CS Offset Jaw with 4 springs, and a Duke DP coon trap. I’ll be going after foxes/coyotes/coons. I’ll be setting dirt-hole land sets to begin with. My question is this; since I will be setting on land only, do I need to both dye and wax the traps or is just one or the other enough? |
| Dye and wax serve two different purposes. The dye is to help protect the metal from rust (it'll get some rust anyway) and to camo the trap a little. Some guys say if it's going under dirt it doesn't need the color, it's a personal preference thing. The wax is primarily used to "speed up" the trap. It acts as a lubricant. I dye and wax, but it's your call. |
