Got this one this evening. First one I've seen in a field I'm allowed to shoot in. Turns out V-maxers don't make for very good denistry tools!!

Neither do Remington 55 grain AccuTips. Shot this coyote and it took off running, kinda slower than normal so I knew I hit it. Its mouth was wide open when it was running. Tracked him for 200-300 yards and found it here. One more 40 s&w HP to the neck and it was done.

I just now noticed the walmart sack in the pic. That coyote is in the middle of a 2 mile x 2 or 3 mile dead section, no roads going through it. And there are no houses within 5 miles at least. Crazy how that trash can get so far out there.

Friendship is like peeing on yourself: everyone can see it, but only you get the warm feeling that it brings.

Grey Diggers are out on the west side of the Cascades.

1st one of the year. 75ish yards.

123 yards.

270 yards.

I killed one other with the .17HMR. My .243 AI gets most of the action.

YES they are!!!  Had a great day today, but the 68gn Match just does not make them mist as much as I would like
Most were at 250+ , across a canyon, but this one was at 108 and on my side.

So far I have only shot 2 squirrels with it, been letting the boy shoot most of the time, so I just picked up a .17, had it  chopped to 16.5" and threaded for him -I own a lot of suppressors.
BUT the 2 I hit were tore up pretty well .
I like it.

I noticed you left the thread protector off of it

OK so the .17 at 16.5" and threaded with a suppressor is a SWEET setup for diggers.
They do not even start to bolt when you hit them. I had to "test" it out before the boy gets it.

what can is on your.17  (HMR i'm assuming)?  I've got the same .17 in SS.  I had tornado tech thread it for me, shoulda cut it down too, oh well...  I have enough QD mounts so I can run my YHM 556 on there, but imma get a Checkmate eventually just for that thing.  I haven't shot it much, but it was like a laser when I did.

Hope you're chasing some of those diggers west a few miles...

cheers, Benji

Just got back from a prairie dog hunt in Colorado. I killed well over 600 in 3 days, all together 4 of us killed about 2,000. A very target rich environment. A friend killed this one with a 17 Ackley Hornet.

He said "Yes you did" I said "No I didn't" she said "Yes you did" then I said "Nuh uh" they said "Uh huh" then I said, If it is gonna be that kind of party I'm stickin my dick in the mashed potatoes.

Is that squirrel blood on the kid's shirt?
6/17/2010 11:22:52 PM EDT
[#23]
Ha, no that is not blood, it is jam from lunch , sorry crazytuco.

Well, he FINALLY got to shoot his .17 -2nd one- since I took the first one over
We cut this to 16.5", threaded and fluted the barrel, shortened the stock, then HE did the camo job on it.
He did GREAT at 76yrds with his .17 on this one, and many more at various distances.

AND, he got to try out his new 20 ga. , the best part was he stood there holding this digger and when he set it down it was still alive and tried to take off running. He was like " I shot it and it just sat there with a bloody nose so I stepped on it then picked it up"  While I took these pictures I didn't know it was still alive and well - bloody nose. HA, we took care of that.

Good times,
NoHair

First shot was ~300 yards.  Gave 1.2 mil elevation.  Absolutely PEARLED the sumbitch first shot!!

I took no pictures...  never crossed my mind
