Nice kill! I'm not sure about the two different camo wraps, but it's better than nothing. Camo is camo, man - I'll bet that rifle disappears in the brush. As long it it breaks up your outline and blends in with the local landscape, it will all work the same way. Keep in mind that most camo is manufactured to appeal to the eyes of humans, not animals - it's all part of their marketing. If you ever look at my kill pictures, I'm usually wearing at least a few different types of camo, and I kill enough animals to prove that it's effective. Don't buy into the camo hype either - most of the camo I wear is BDU style camo that works perfectly and is two or three times the durability of most commercial at half the price or less. What I don't buy from Tru-Spec or some mil surplus place I buy from Wal-Mart or the clearance rack at Bass Pro Shop. |
| Rizzo1318 is a hunter and understands LOL. The camo on the buttstock, scope, etc is camo-wrap. The fore-end and barrel camo is a slip on cover which is easily removed and fit's loose. Camo-wrapping the fore-end and barrel will kill the accuracy of the rifle. You also need to consider the sound factor as well as sight. I did spot shoot this one but I also have a Foxpro Fury and call when ever I can, but I also have a shoot on sight coyote doctrine here on the farm. I carry this AR everywhere, truck, four-wheeler, tractor. You could call it my daily carry. The camo-wrap saves a lot of wear and tear. |

You bring up a good point about camo wrapping barrels. In my experience with wrapping various types of barrels and then using them for different style of hunting I've noticed that it doesn't always kill the accuracy. Where it really hurts is when guys have free floated barrels and then wrap them tightly, thus eliminating the free floated advantage. Also anytime you wrap your barrel it can affect the harmonics and so you need to double-check your zero. Anytime I put on any kind of barrel wrap I always shoot it before taking it afield - I've got a CZ 550 American in .308 that is free floated, and I recently added camo wrap from the muzzle to the action. I wrapped it loosely, and last weekend when I checked zero I was still about 2 inches to the right.

To clarify, are you saying that putting camo-wrap on the handguards <meta charset="utf-8"></meta> (not barrel) will negatively affect accuracy? |
| No we're talking about the fact that wrapping your barrel can cause problems if you don't double-check your zero before hunting with your rifle. Wrapping AR handguards wouldn't be an issue, but wrapping the forend of a standard bolt rifle where it holds the barrel in place could potentially cause an issue. Basically if the wrap touches the barrel then you need to make sure you are still good-to-go before you hunt with it. |

nice kill...
side note I just cammoed my ar and found a neat little trick, I tried some camo wrap but didnt like it I ended up cutting up an old shamois button up camo shirt I had and if you cut the collar off without cutting the seams you then can cut out the ends of the collar and make a slip on cover for your barrel, this should not effect the barrel harmonics.. I then shredded parts of the shirt and tied them on a few spots and used a longer ribbon to wrap around the scope, it looks like crap but works well to break up the outline. one other note the camo tape did leave marks on the finish of the gun so I took it off the metal parts, I havnt rubbed any oil on it yet to see if it etched into thefinish and if it did no biggy Its not a trailer queen... |
