You don't really want to use FMJ ammo for any hunting, you want something like a softpoint or hollowpoint that will expand and put them down. I have killed coyotes with everything from .22 to 9mm, .223 to 12ga, and as long as you use a good round designed for killing, it'll work.

+1 NO FMJ. Hollowpoint, softpoint or ballistic tip.

Buy a box of Winchester 40 gr HPs.  Sight it in and go kill something.

Depends on what your rifle shoots the best. I have one that likes 52 grain hollowpoints from Black Hills and another that I only shoot the 60 grain vmax in however I’m always trying new loads.  FMJ is a no go.

I use 50grn Barnes Varmint Grenades in a handload and they work very well or i will use 55grn winchester ballistic silvertips.both are very good. You can get the Varmint grenades factory loaded in 36 or 50 grain from black hills. Midway and Natchez usually stocks them.
