I've ate alot of stuff over the years at Charity wild game dinners, never any Yote though.
I used to always cook groundhogs on the gas BBQ grill for my Dogs years ago. |

Bown Bears =shit. Black bears work lke this. A berry eating bear, with no fish present, during spring, up in the mountains can taste good. A fish eating bear tastes like shit. Another nice bear item. Two friends of mine contracted trichinosis from dressing out a bear. Fun stuff. Waiting patiently for the yote dinner pic. |

Alright, alright - I killed a big male this last weekend and he was all "rutted up" if you know what I mean. This coming Monday I will be go out hunting and then New Year's weekend I have a big group coyote hunt - there has got to be a post freeze non-rutted out yote in there before the end of the year. I now it's been a long time, but work has kept me very tied up and so hunting has been minimal.
I promise you, I will eat a yote before the New Year dawns. |

I started cutting out the backstrap of the big male I shot last weekend, and it stunk so bad I figured he was too "rutted out" to eat. That's why I'm on the hunt for a good female, I hear they don't smell so bad!

I wish that guy Zimmer on TV was an Arf.commer, he's ate everything that loose on both ends on his TV show, Goes all over the worls eating things most people wouldn't hold in their bare hands. Be interesting to learn if he has eaten yotes, dogs, and whatever.
If you have eaten tacos and tamales off a street vender, you may have eaten dog, cat, rattlesnake, burro or a host of other "expendables". |

I have eaten off the street vendors in the Phillipines. Loved what we called "monkey meat". It was supposed to be pork on a bamboo skewer but I have never seen pork that was red meat. It was most likely monkey or dog. Whatever it was it was tasty. |

chances are that's pork coz' dog or monkey meat are more expensive..... the red comes from the food coloring and the brown sugar they put to make it more " attractive " to consumers just like their hotdogs which are red in color....  good thing u didn't try the " balut " or the fertilized duck eggs boiled and sold on the streets....you literally eat the embryo of the duck....reaaaaaal good.....

I've had balut. It doesn't taste that bad. Kinda like bland chicken or duck. It's mainly the thought of it and looking at it that makes people sick. |

It is done! My first ever dinner pic on ARFCOM and it's a meal fit for a king!
And now, the story: I got this nice male today, and while I had hoped for a female, I settled for this young coyote as he wasn't too bad - but he still stunk like all Hell. 
I got right to work and cut out a nice chunk of backstrap. 
It may not look big, but hey, neither does filet mignon! 
When I got home, I made sure to wash it really well. 
Then I fired up the grill, cooked it very well, and ate it up. You want pictures? How about some video?! |

The taste was not that bad - it left a kind of bitter, stinging taste in the mouth while chewing it, but after I ate it all, the aftertaste didn't linger for too long.

I called in the coyote Glen shot and subsequently devoured. Myself and the other 2 hunters there counciled him repeatedly to forgo the challenge. Mind you, legend says mountain men used to pass on eating them because they couldn't keep coyote meat down. I suggested he bathe it in A1 steak sauce and hold his nose but it appears he went a' la natural with a medley of carrots.
Here is a picture of Glen and I with his take out dinner hanging between us. Glen, you are to be commended, .. uh. I think.

How was I really supposed to prove it? It would have been too easy at any point to switch the coyote with beef - guess the three guys I hunted with, my wife and my two kids will just have to be good enough witnesses.
Add to that the fact I'm not a liar, and you'll just have to accept it. ETA: If I was gonna cheat, why would I have waited so long to get a "good" coyote? |
