| Hey I am looking for a round for my son to shoot this weekend. It needs to be something I can pick up at Bass Pro/Academy/Walmart. I looked through the deer hunting rounds thread but due to my ignorance about ammo I could not make heads or tales of it. Thanks in advance. |

Your best bet is going to be something loaded with a Barnes TSX bullet. My Academy carries Barnes VorTex ammo with 50gr TSX. Bass Pro might have one of the other Mfgs, with a different weight.
However, you'll probably be alright with any quality BONDED bullet and good shot placement. My son killed two deer this year with the 64gr Speer Gold Dots. Both were broadside through and throughs, excellent performance. |
