OK
Just bought a Blaser R8. I got the .338 Win Mag and the Zeiss Conquest 3.5-10X44. I am also ordering a .308 barrel and need to get a scope for it. Id like to get a nice scope for it, I will use the .308 more than the .338. I am open to a S&B, Leica, Nightforce etc. Id really like a lit reticle. Any advice or suggestions? Perhaps 2.5-10X42? Even lower magnification would work as this is not going to be used for distance, Ill have the .338 for that. Most likely a 30 mm tube... Whats out there for a quality scope, lit reticle and not weighing a zillion pounds? |

Many threads dealing with scopes. Here is one. http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_10_23/648082_Ok__so_I__ve_got_the_gun__now_I_need_scope_advice___.html May help. I have a Nikon Buckmasters BDC on the way ( They have a rebate going where get a new digital camera) (Look at Cabelas for info). I am a cheap, and I run Simmons, Bushnells, and some Nikons. Most of my shots are under 200yds. I have a Simmons scope that is 20+ years, and has never lost zero from when I sighted in 20 years ago. It is mounted on a 30-06, so not the same recoil you will have with the 338. Definitely a quality set of rings is a must. |

The Leupold VX-R has potential but I just feel for the same money
as a Leupold or a little more you can get a MUCH nicer piece of glass. I have a couple Leupold scopes and while they have never let me down they have never blown me away either..... I would go for Leupold before Trijicon though.... I just looked at the Leica Magnus and have to say that has SERIOUS potential! |

OK
Contacted Leica and for some reason the Magnus is not being sold in the US or Canada.... I don't know if I should try to get one shipped from overseas or get a S&B or perhaps a Nightforce. I really want a lit reticle and just feel for a little more than a Leupold, Zeiss etc I can get a much better piece of glass... |
