Hey all. I just started bow hunting the end of last year. This year I've been out almost every day with my bow and everyday with my gun since gun season started.  I've drawn down on a few yearlings, but decided to pass on them. Other than that haven't had any opportunities. Although I've had tons of pictures on my trail camera.

So last night I get in my stand and after about 10 min. I spot a deer in the cornfield next to my property.  Look through my scope and spot to young does about 175 yards from me (in the neighbors field).  I'm just enjoying watching them play for a little bit when I see a buck sneaking out of the tree line.  YES!    Their all just eating the corn enjoying life. The buck is slowly walking away, so I make a sound (don't have any calls). He stops, then starts walking again.  I make another sound, he looks right at me and turns around and actually starts coming toward me slowly, eating along the way.  When he's about 70 yards a away he climbs over the fence and on to my property At about 60 I make a sound, he stops, I shoot.  He jumps and runs about another 60 yards and stops.
I didn't see exactly where he went down and he had NO blood trail. Absolutely nothing, but I found a lot of hair so I knew I hit him.

Anyway, here he is. My first deer and my first buck!

And the recovered slug.

I'll post the pics I have of him from my trail cams soon too, :)

I was really surprised as well. Especially considering it impacted on the front shoulder.  Then went through a lung, guts, and was lodged in the hide on the rear of the animal. They're serious when they say 100% weight retention.

thanks guys. It definitely is a great feeling.  I'm happy I passed up littler ones and waited for this guy.  Not saying he is any where near a "trophy buck" but he's sure as hell a trophy to me.

That is awesome!  Welcome to the the rush!

Now you have something else in your blood that will cause you to spend alot more money, buy alot more ammo, shoot alot more, buy more EBR's, and spend time away from home!  Ain't it great?

You shoot that with the Mossberg or your grandpas 20? Looks like a 12 to me. Anyway, in either even, good show!
