I took this doe yesterday! Normally, I would pass on a doe, but I have not shot a deer since 2008.
She dropped on the spot to a 150gr SST on 45gr of Varget in my .308 Savage FP10.

Why pass a doe?  Everyone in Texas needs to be shooting does.

Hadn't given it much thought, but, I guess it was because my freezer seemed to be full of feral pig, ducks, goose, etc.  Truth is, I prefer pork.

p.s. mini-14 blasphemy?

I shot this one kneeling at 100 yards with my FN SPRA1 in 308 using federal 150 gr sp red box loads from wally world. they are the ceapest loads I could find that I could afford to practice with at $14 a box and surprisingly they can do around .6moa in my rifle at 300 yards. I killed 3 deer with this load in this rifle this year. One mule doe was at 426 yards (thats the last accurate range we got with the range finder it might have been farther.) and a mule buck at a little over 200 yards.

I forgot my tarp and my cucv blazer has carpet in the bed. See all the blood? thats why I put it on the hood. Didnt want to mess up the carpet. lol I discovered that even in montana I'm the only one who still straps a deer to the hood. You sould have seen some of the smiles and dropped jaw looks I got. lol

I see you took it to House of Meats, I work just down the street. I generally take mine to the chop shop.

One on the left was dropped with an A-bolt II at 200yds, on the right a DPMS at 100yds, all within a 300 YD area and 15 minutes  One more buck, size equivalent to the deer on the right was with this pack, but we decided two deer were enough to clean and haul back..

It is not going to be easy to top them next year...

This IS the deer hunting forum.

Deer are usually shot with something, that causes blood to spill out.

There are plenty of pictures in this thread alone which show open wounds.

Here is the 5 point I killed the day after Thanksgiving.

The deer was taken on public land, when I got to the parking area that afternoon there were already 7 trucks parked there. I figured I better put some distance on my boots so I walked in over 2 miles and had a seat. Half hour later this guy shows up. It took me a little over 4 hours to get him back to the truck.

Small rack but a decent size body

Ah, didn't see that anything was deleted.  That's one you don't hear of often, though.

This is the mulelly buck I shot. I shot this one at around 225 yards or so in the last few minutes of light. I waited for a group of deer to come up over a rise and into sight for about 5 minutes and I just got comfortable and waited. then I picked out the biggest buck and shot. There were some smaller forks and a spike. the first round hit solid in the lower vitals and I later discovered he whent through the lungs liver and spleen then it took off running and the second shot was as it was running and that one blew out his left shoulder and both lungs again. I doubted myself after he ran but both shots were kill shots only the first would have taken longer. This one was also killed with the walmart special federal 150 gr soft point. who said cheap ammo cant be good ammo.
