| I got my Ar sighted in with the 64gr power points last weekend, and took my neice out to shoot, she shot very well..And the Ar shot the 64gr power points extreamly well at 100yds..Im taking my neice in the morning on her first deer hunt. Should I worry about shooting a deer behind the shoulder with the 64gr power point? I've head no and that they do exteamly well,I just have no experience with the 223 in deer hunting, but I see others taking deer all the time with it..Or should I have her shoot in the neck? |

64 gr PP should be fine. I would shoot for Heart/lung and stay away from shoulder and neck. It should work fine. Watch where it is standing and where it goes after shot.
.223 works fine but can leave a small blood trail, but bullet through heart or lungs will equal a dead deer. I prefer 62gr TSX bullets, tougher enough to hit a bone and still penetrate through the deer or hog. My second choice would be a bonded bullet or a Partition. Third would be a softpoint with the 64 gr PP being at the top of the heap of softpoint bullets. RRA15 |

Have only shot one doe with this load. I hit her in the nose at 50 feet (I was trying for a head on chest shot, but she swung her head at the last split second |
| Small (dressed at 151 lbs.) 10 point buck. 75 yds on the move. Shot entered behind shoulder and into the boilerhouse, no rib hit on way in. Dropped right there, Opened deer and heart and lungs poured out. I was shocked at damage. 64 gr. PP from a RRA 16 in. midlength. Maybe lucky or 64 gr. PP's are that good. |
