Im gonna be taking my 10 year old neice out on her very first hunt on out youth hunt coming up..Im gonna let her shoot my Bushmaster M4 since it is scoped and has a 6 position stock for her short arms. But I've never shot any hunting ammo out of it..I don't reload so its gonns have to be store bought ammo..I was thinking of the 55gr PSP, think this is a good enough for deer up to 100yds,no further? I've heard alot of good stuff about the federal 60gr nosler partitions..But  I can't find those anywhere local,I can just get them over the net,and I really don't wanna spend $13 on shipping plus the actual $25 on 1 box of shells..I can find the 55gr PSP,what do you guys think? Will the 55gr PSP get the job done?

If you have 1/7 twist, I would suggest 60gr to 77gr. When I hunt deer with my AR it's head shot only. If i can't get a good head shot (100 yds or less) I don't even bother. Don't want to take a chance of wounding the deer and have to track it down to where ever.

55 gr psp should be fine. RaymondH3201 uses them with pretty good results. I reload and my rifle has a 1:8 twist so I use a 75 gr hp. ymmv.

Probably will work.  But I would try to find some tougher bonded or Barnes TSX bullets to ensure an exit wound regardless of angle or a bone hit.  Also I would go heavier if you have a fast barrel twist.  RRA15

I really do want the 60gr noslers partitions, but I just can't find them local..My AR has a 1/9 twist.I think I should be okay with 60gr but would be pushing it for anything over..Im gonna call around today and see if I can't locate a box locally..

You'll be fine as long as you take good shots  (heart / lungs). I've taken lots of deer with my AR's using bullets ranging from a 45gr HP, 55gr FMJ, to a 64gr SP. Never had one that took more than one shot, and never had one that ran more than about 30 yds, most of them drop where they stand.

I ran up the road to a local gun shop I forgot about, and they had the Winchester 64gr power points..So I bought them.I've read good stuff on them and I shoot the power points out of my 30-06 and am very pleased with them..Well Come Jan 16-17 I hope I can post a picture of a proud uncle and neice with her first deer and a sexy AR!!
