I took my first deer tonight with an AR used a Fusion 62g round. Made a lung shot and the ~150lb. spike ran off ~40 yards and expired, no exit wound. I have been considering using my 9mm AR what round should I use or should I not use a 9mm.

i wouldnt use a 9mm. no doubt it could kill a deer, but so can a .22lr. stick with your .223, or go bigger.

IMO 9mm from a carbine would be fine out to 50-60yds with good shot placement on a heart lung shot.  If you were using lighter 115 grs make sure it is a tough bonded bullet, especially firing through a carbine.
Or use a heavier 129-147 gr bullet.  I would prefer an exit, so I have a blood trail to track.  I know guys who have killed deer w/ 9mm handguns but usually 20-30 yds.
.223 w/ TSX bullets would be my choice, but w/ right bullet and good target presentation 9mm will work.
