Just started hunting 3 weeks ago. Starting off right I guess. My first kill, 15" 8 point, San Saba, TX. Got him with a my old mans 1956 Savage .300 99 EG, with a 2 power Weaver on a Stith mount, at 200 yards. Lung shot, moved 0 feet.

I killed eight gophers last year and a purebred Tennessee walking horse that was looking at me funny.

I admit I'm biased for the state but I am impressed with the Montana results.

Here's the pictures from the Mule deer hunt we went on in Nov. It was awesome First time I gone somewhere that I wasn't freezing my tail off while hunting. I had to stalk my deer about 500-700yds to finally take a texas heart shot since the only time it went broadside was right in front of a cow. Ended up taking a 75yd shot. My brother shot his at 315yds, and my dad shot 450yd . That's a long shot when you grow up hunting in thickets and swamps where the farthest you shoot is 100yds.

I couldn't believe it either, but the tape said different A bit over 18" wide & the beams were almost 24". Saw a couple of gollywhoppers, but no shots at 'em. |

Outfitter in NewMexico JJ ranch if I remember correctly. My dad hooked up with them a couple years ago through Safari Club. A lot of big deer, but because they only harvest a limited number a deer a year, they really need to start some dink hunts. I'd go at a discounted rate because their dinks look like giants compared to any MI whitetails.

Great deer, guys.
Only 79 days until archery season here. I need to order a dozen raw V-Force shafts, Rage 2-blade broadheads, and Lumenoks in the next couple of weeks. |

Where will you be ordering from, if you don't mind me asking? Well, I changed my mind and ordered Magnus Stinger Buzzcut broadheads instead, along with the V-Force shafts –– all came from Bowhunter's Superstore on eBay. I haven't ordered Lumenoks yet, but when I do, it'll be from some place different, as that place only sells them in single packs, while I buy them in 3-packs. I'm meeting fellow Arfcommer big-Al in two hours to build and spin test my arrows. |

I just read where I shot a doe on page 2 of this thread. I vaguely remember it. I definitely remember smoking a hindquarter for my now-wife. |
