Shot a nubbin buck with my AR. Neck shot, straight on, 75-100yds, 68gr Privi BTHP. Deer dropped in its tracks, kicked a few times and was done.

After loading him up and stashing the rifle in the truck I had a doe sneak up on me. I snuck back with my XD9 loaded with some Federal 124gr+P+ (open carried on private property) and got within 15 yds. Put a broadside shot right behind the shoulder taking out half a lung and vaporizing the heart. Tried to double tap her but she jumped straight up so I sent the second round somewhere off into the dirt. No matter, one did the trick and she didn't make it 25yds

inadequate calibers 2 deer 0

I got this guy 8:45am Opening Day in Harrison County, WV.  I drug him up the hill using a pulley system I came up with, probably 200 feet of elevation over 600 feet of hill.  I got him to the top of the hill at 11:45am.  He was the only buck I saw while on stand, the deer just weren't moving, the weather was warm, the leaves were crunchy, and we don't have enough hunters to push them.

Killed this guy yesterday 5 minutes after taking a QDM doe.  I would have let this one go if I knew it brow tines were so short and had a G2 busted off.  Will Eurpean mount it and have taxidermist mock up a G2 for me.

Your link code was bad.  I had to go to your link and get the correct URL to the pic.  I got red Xs the first time too.  Not a problem at all brother.

Be safe out there.

Place holder for my 11 point I shot this morning.  Photos when I get home.

ETA:proof

Taken in Runnells county with a Ruger M77 in .257 Roberts at 150yards.  This is the 6th deer I've killed with that gun, all using the Hornady 117grn Light Mag loads with SST bullets.  Those things work VERY well on deer.  Was out looking for a doe for meat, but ended up with a wall hanger, and extra meat.  Good day hunting for sure....

Here's my contribution.  Shot this boy on Monday 11.23.09 in Harrison County West Virginia with a Ruger No.1 in .270 Win. with hand loads.  Ranged with the Leica's at 300 yards.  The Barnes XBT's took out both shoulders and the heart.

I had to come North as they won't let us Keys Rats shoot any of the endangered Key Deer.  Had a blast hunting with BadM4 and Mr.& Mrs. Tactical Hillbilly.

One shot.......one got!

Hunted with my dad "Capt_Jerry" and "Mr.& Mrs. Tactical Hillbilly".  Good times were had by all.

Nice deer, where abouts in Harrison County?  You sure look like a guy I passed on the top of a hill opening morning.  Were you anywhere near the conveyor belt near the Consol Portal to Robinson Run, i.e; Big Indian Run?

Actually we were in the Kinchole (Big Issac) area.  Not many other hunters around except our gang.  Maybe next time I'm up we can lay an eye ball on each other.  Heading to Southern Ohio today with BadM4 for a couple of days of hunting and then back to the Keys on Thursday.

Have a good season and Happy Trails!

Got this one Sat.(Nov 28) morning at about 7:45AM in Patrick County VA.  40 yard chip shot with my Browning A-Bolt .270 topped with a Leupold 3-9x40.
Didn't notice the stick in the foreground that the camera focused on (using timer, camera on fallen tree) on the screen on the camera, so I'm a ltitle fuzzy.

Haha that's how I take my pictures in the field too.  It's quite an art, working with those setups.

Nice looking deer!  Good inside spread with the long tines - he'd be a wallhanger in my house!

Taken on Nov. 24th at about high noon exactly. I could tell he was not rutting by his glands but he was still chasin tail when I got him.

Took this one on opening day about 11:30.

This one was at about 6:45 just at daybreak the day after the first doe.

Before this season I was a true believer in the morning and afternoon hunt. From now on its all day everyday that I can. This is my fifth season hunting and I have gotten a deer every season but Im still teaching myself.

Lost the blood trail, had to go back this morning and found him 100 yards from where I hit him.

I was terrified I wouldn't find him.

Thank God my FIL was there to help.

19 points.

NWA Opening day of modern gun.
My first kill with my Savage .270, 30 yd shot.  Good ole 8 point taken some family land. Shot it and let it sit in the field for another hour to see if another buck would come out.  Right about 9 am a doe came walking out and about walked over the dead buck and my uncle took her.

I got my first pistol deer kill today with my Glock 10mm longslide.

It was raining this afternoon and I knew there were a bunch bedded down in some standing corn (including a NICE heavy 8 pointer that chased a doe into the field).    It was raining so a buddy told me just to sneak down the rows, peeking down a row at a time until I see one.   Never tried it before, but it worked great.

I managed to sneak to within about 20 yards of this doe.    She never knew I was there, and didn't know what hit her or where it came from.

I was impressed with the penetration of the Double Tap ammo (180gr bullet @ approx 1300fps).    She was facing me when I shot.  It entered the neck where you see it and destroyed the top of the heart, through the stomach, and stopped somewhere  in the area of the intestines (I didn't go digging around in the gutpile to recover the bullet, sorry).    She dropped where she stood.

Used a Remington Model Seven in .260 Rem, shot at 125 yards.  Not as wide as I hoped for but he was standing broad side and I had to make a quick decision.  He was with about 10 does and a smaller 4x4.  Not quite in the rut yet.

One shot that took out the heart.

A friend of mine was hunting with one of his friends and took a nice 7x10 about 2 hrs before about 1/2 mile away.

Small doe taken 11/29/09

It has been a really odd year. I've seen a lot of deer, missed two, had deer close to me that I couldn't get a shot at because they were either looking right at me or on the wrong side of me, got pissed at the guy who runs our club for banning .223 even though it's legal in the state, and shot this deer on the last morning of the last day I'll ever hunt that property (told deer club despot that he can kiss my ass, I'll find a club that goes by all the state regulations, not just the ones he likes).

My first deer since 1986. No, not that bad of a hunter, but life got in the way, Army, wife, kids. Some friends got me out this year and it seems I have not forgot that much. All my hunting was in Michigan, so the deer in Alabama seem smaller to me. Shot this 7 point about 0730 this morning. 125 yard give or take with a 7mm win mag. Dropped on the spot. There were several others, but picked this one out of the bunch. I hope to shoot one more so my father and my family both have some meat for the freezer. He went about 160 pounds. Not as good as some of the others in this thread, but im happy with him. My 6.8 SPC AR build is in the works!! Next years dear gun!

Why yes, that is an Alabama Crimson Tide Hat....can you say ROLL TIDE ;)

Shot my first deer ever on Saturday 12/12/09. About 100 yards, head on shot from a stand. It had it's head down, shot went through neck into chest and out into left femur. She fell and couldn't run due to the broken leg, stopped moving in about 10 seconds. 105# before field dressing.

Congratulations on your first deer. It's a great feeling, isn't it?

Thanks.
It was very intense. While I had the doe in my Leupold, my heart was racing like it was going to jump out of my chest. I kept thinking: don't jerk the trigger like you have Buck Fever.Took a few deep breaths. My friend said he could hear my heart beat in my breathing.
