I have a Remington 700 in 7mm-08 with a Nikon Monarch 2 - 8 x 32 mounted on it.  Great gun, I tried the Hornady SST's, but my rifle just didn't like them.  This rifle likes the Remington 140 grain PSP's.  I have taken three deer with it and love the rifle.  It is short, handy and great for hunting in Tennessee and south Arkansas.

Great caliber and the Elite 3200's are good scopes. I have not had much luck with the SST's in a couple of my rifles either but if they shoot well in yours try them on game and see how they perform. Congrats.

I generally hunt North American game with a .30-06 but if I were to own a second rifle, I would jump over (or dig under) the .308 Win and arrive at the 7mm-08!  I've always thought the .243 was a good idea generally but I like the thought of a 7mm in .308 brass to be a better one. for me.  That said, I'd choose the .243 as third choice.

7mm is one of the best available. I usually use a 7x57 loaded somewhat hot––same ballistics as 7mm-08. Very good killer, with a light touch on the rubber end.

I have a Ruger M77 compact with Nikon Prostaff 3x9x50 and Fed. Prem nosler 140gr Nosler Partitions and have killed deer dead in their tracks at over 200 yards.

I used an A-bolt in 7-08 for about 2 decades, and liked it so much that I had a really tricked out R700Ti built in the same caliber.  140 gr. Partition handloads have dispatched many animals of several species.  I run them at about 2800 FPS out of a 22" barrel; more velocity is possible, but that is the "sweet spot" accuracy wise for the particular weapon.  I tend to prefer big objectives, so 3.5-10x50 Leupy's are my optic of choice for the application.

I have a factory 7-08 HB from the 70's-80's when they still blued them and put them in wood stocks.  It shoots really well, never been hunting with it.  It was a hand me down from my father who used it for silhouette shooting.

Same here, we dropped it into a McMil stock, mounted a 6.5-20x50 LR scope on it and it shoots right there with my $2K+ custom guns.

Great caliber, I only use the 168gr. SMKs so no hunting experience to share.

My deer rifle is a Remington 700 7MM08 Stainless in a HS Precision stock, with a Leupold 3-9x40 Vari-Xll scope.

I keep everything on a post-it note at 100 yards, but the rifle could do better.

Love the light recoil with the flat trajectory. 140 grain Core Lokts all fucking day!

I bought my wife a Remington 700 BDL in 7mm-08.  I have been working with it at the range preparing for deer season this year.  I have a Leupold VX-III 3X9 and hand loading with Barnes TSX 140 grain.  The only thing I can say is damn accurate.  I really want to see what it will do for deer season.  If she has any luck I will post the results.

Tikka T3 Lite in 7mm-08 with a Bushnell Elite 4200 3x9-40

Testing factory loads to see which groups best, I'm down to Remington 140gr Core-Lokt PSPs or Federal Vital-Shok 140gr Nosler Ballistic Tips both just under 1MOA @ 100yds (longest range nearby).

Never shot a 7mm-08 untill last weekend. My son past hunter safty this summer and we just hooked him up with a used Remington M7 youth model. Came with a 3x9 Bushnell w/ a 50mm objective. I thought about replacing the glass, but after shooting it there is no need. Damn gun drives tacks. both my wife and I cut the 10 ring consistantly with it and my son grouped well but still needs some trigger time. Love the caliber now, and will be getting one for myself in the near future

My hiking gun Rem 700 DBM SYN/SS with a Leupy VARI-X III 2.5x8 in 7mm-08, my sons deer rifle is a Ruger Compact Laminate/SS in 7mm-08 with a Leupy VARI-X II 3x9. Both love the Federal Premiums.

Have a Kimber 84M Classic with a VX-III 4.5x14 - great rifle, and likes the WInchester 140 gr Ballistic Tips best out of all the factories I've tried.  Does not like any of the Hornady's (SST, Interbond, etc).  My Encore pistol likes the same load as well, but getting ready to work up some reloads for both.

Happy Hunting!

I stumbled into this round and don't look back at all.  I am very pleased with its performance.  I built my first custom bolt gun in this caliber.

I first determined that I wanted something in 7mm with mild recoil for quicker follow-up shots (if needed; haven't yet).  Then a .308 Win case made sense.  It was pointed out to me that it's out there...

I started with a Montana action.  The smith I work with walked me through installing a Shilen barrel.  I fitted it into a MPI stock,   DuraCoated it, and mounted a Leupy VX3 2.5-8.

The first load I worked up for it was with Nosler Partitions that shoot around MOA.  I found that it, like my Remmy in .270, likes Barnes TSX's; it puts 5, 140gr's inside half-MOA.

I use 30-30 and 308 but I must say the 7-08 is about the perfect hunting round for the US. I owned a Remington SPS in 7-08 briefly last year. I sold it to a 12 year old boy who wanted it real bad. I had not fired it. When we took it out to shoot it I told him if had had known how well it shot I would have just let him borrow it.

A friend has a Remington 700 lvsf in 7-08 and it is a work of art. The Mountain Rifle is really nice too.
