Sure why not? Just make sure you use a tough bullet and put it where it needs to go.

Check to make sure .357mag is legal in your state.  Also, some states have a minimum fps or ft/lbs for any caliber.

I have a new stainless Blackhawk in .357 but it's been too cold here in Washington to go shooting!

The regs for your state say any legal centerfire handgun for deer.  There is no mention of barrel length or fps.

Not even half that for the high today.  IIRC has good news for you above.  A well placed .357mag is a potent round if you are a proficient shooter.

You can use anything you want during the "any legal sporting arms" season.  I only know of two exceptions to that.  You can only use a crossbow if you are mobility-impaired and you can not use any fully automatic guns.

There are no magazine restrictions and it is ok to use suppressors. Isn’t our state great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

go here:
New Mexico Big Game Info

page 15 gives the definition of "Legal Sporting Arms"

page says:
Any Legal Sporting Arm
Centerfire rifle or handgun; shotgun no smaller than 28 gauge,
firing a single slug; any bow and arrows; any muzzleloading rifle.
Crossbows may be used only by Certified Mobility-Impaired
Hunters.
