Game cameras that use an SD chip for the photo storage, can you view the photos taken on the game camera by putting the SD chip in a digital camera or is the only way to see the photos is to use a computer? UPDATE: Now I am in the digital scouting crowd. I went to the Bass Pro Shop that opened last weekend around the corner from my house. Yes that is going to be disasterous to my bank account. I bought the Stealth Cam 1230IR which was on sale. It looks like a robust unit and has IR illumination for night shooting. It was tested with no memory card and worked fine. The images played back on my TV. Then I took the 1 gig SD memory card out of my digital camera after formatting it. The SD card was put in the Stealth Cam and tested again. No problems. It started taking photos and counting them on the LCD screen on the front of the camera. I again hooked it up to the TV and was able to see the photos stored on the SD card. Then I took the SD card out of the Stealth Cam game camera and put it back in the Nikon Cool Pix L4 digital camera. After turning the camera on all the images were there and could be seen just fine. The camera even cleared up the fuzzy ones. So now I can set the Stealth Cam up at the lease and be able to see the photos by using my digital camera in the field. No need to take the camera or chip back home to use a TV or computer. Of course I will get a second memory card and swap them out so I can bring the card back home and save the photos I want on my computer. I just wanted to be able to view the photos while still in camp. |
| That's a good question. I was thinking the same thing about the cameras myself. I went to radio shack and bought a SD card reader to read my cards. All I do is change the cards in the field put the old card in my pocket and go home. When I get home I put the card in the reader and plug it into the computer. Thats is. I wonder if I tried putting the card in the camera if I could look at the pictures in the field. |
