I'm having issues with my wlolphi-ink interface. I've emailed the manufacturer several times but have not received reply from them. I haven't used it for 7 or 8 months and not with the android phone I currently have.

When plugged in to my phone the radio will tx for a split second every 3 seconds on it's own.It does this on my 817 and 857 both. It only does this when the phone is awake, not when the screen is off. The PTT is not being triggered when I try to transmit either. I've checked the voltage on the headphone jack and it shows 1.9v, more than required by the Wolphi adapter to work. I've tried both Andflmsg and PSKDroid software.

I have not tried another phone yet but will in a few days when one of the kids come by. Any help will be appreciated.

First, make sure there are no protective phone cases interfering with fully inserting the cable. The cable should be a TRRS cable with 4 contacts on the plug, not a typical 3 contact audio cable. Make sure it is firmly seated in both the phone and the Wolphilink.

Also make sure you have no background apps running on the phone that might take control of the phone's audio jack.

Check your TRRS cable for shorts and continuity as well.

If all those fail, I am at a loss. You might be able to find an app that will help you test the phone jack, but you will probably need a corded speaker/mic headset to test it with.

Also check that you are using the proper data cable to the radio. I believe the Wolphilink relies on the radio's Vox circuit for PTT so you may need to adjust the digital VOX sensitivity in the radio.

If it worked before on a different phone and this phone only exhibits this behavior when it is "awake", it does sound like a phone issue.

I was never able to get the Wolphi Link to work with either of my 857s. Gave it to a buddy with an 817, and reportedly works great. I think it's just something with the 857.

I had the same problem with my android. I had to go in and disable the google search. It was trying to "listen" and triggering the PTT.

Hope that helps.

BTW, I'm pretty much done with that DEV, they are non responsive with any questions. I got the 817 companion and there are features that just don't work anymore that everyone is complaining about.

Mine has always worked with both the 857 and 817.  Digital mode User U.

You may have to adjust the pots inside, and make sure the volume is 100%. Also yes make sure everything in background is off.

I've checked and did not find  any background apps that may cause issues, I think. All cables tested out ok, Using an earphone/mic splitter I plugged the wolphi-link into a linux laptop and was able to trigger ptt and transmit with fldigi.  Sounds like my phone is the culprit here.

Thanks for the replies, I'll post an update when I get another android device to test with.

I couldn't find anything running in my background either, but the screen kept flashing. I found someone else suggested to disable google search, so I did. It worked and isn't an issue cause I only use the tablet for ham.

With your screen on, say "OK Google" if the screen changes you need to turn off voice search in the Google app.

Did you screw with the pots inside the unit? It may just be its set too low to trigger your radio with the phone output. I know when I use mine I have to reset it between mil rigs and my yaseu rigs. Also make sure your phone volume is all the way up, test it with a music app and earphones.

I adjusted the pots to no avail. My wife has the same model motorola phone and gives the same results as mine. I don't use the google voice search or whatever it's called and also made sure the volume for the headset was at max.
