So here I am enjoying Matthew, trying to tune in my little Ft-60. Well, the wife, who does not appreciate the finer things, lets me know that all that "noise" wont let her sleep. Here I am, keeping death and destruction at bay and she has no appreciation!

Well, she made it clear she can be way more of a force then some wind,

I need a headset, anybody have any recommendations. Already tried the pieces that come with iphones/pods but no luck. I must be missing something, cause I though earbuds are earbuds

Thanks!

The ft60 needs an adapter in order to use regular headphones or earbuds. The 1/8" phone plug might fit in the jack, but it isn't the right connector. The ft60 uses a 4 conductor TRRS connector.

Here's a pretty handy small headphone I use with my FT-60 sometimes.  Yeasu MH-37.

Also frequently use this Yeasu MH-34 speaker mic.

and in looking at BD's speaker mic, it appears to have a Headphone jack built into it--so theoretically, you could plug headphones into that to 'listen'

I appreciate the help. Don't think I need the tactical throat mic, yet. so these are good options

Been looking for the Yaesu earpiece for my FT-60 for use in noisy environments or when a little discretion is warranted. It appears they are out of production. Did find this on eBay. One just came in and haven't had a chance to function check it.

I just use inexpensive stereo headphones. Sure, they sound like crap for music, but the limited bass and treble response cuts down on atmospheric and line noise.
