I finally got off the fence and ordered a KX2. It's supposed to ship Monday so it's possible I have it by next weekend!
I have to admit, I'm pretty stoked right now. We're planning a trip to Yellowstone and Glacier next summer and I'm hoping to make the wife happy by going on long hikes that result in a little SOTA work for me. |

I've worked several people running the KX2. They sound great on CW.
Since you're interested in operating outdoors, why not look into Summits of the Air? |

Just remember that while the radio is intended to run on a wire in a tree, antenna is still everything. My KX3 is clearly hobbled by the field expedient portable antenna I'm running, your KX2 will be the same. Enjoy your new toy! |
| I've been thinking a lot about antennas. I have a 10-80 EFLW that I use with my IC-7300 that I may try for portable. I've also been thinking about a magnetic loop. It just depends on how small and light I can make it. I figure the whole point of this hobby, for me, is to experiment and tinker. I think that's why I have so much fun with it. |
Maybe you'll join km and me on our next Indiana camping trip with your new KX2. km had great performance with his KX2 and my KX3 worked great on digital modes as well!
