So has anyone heard of this company and their cables are they any good for getting digital up and running? Seems like I may be missing out on some of the fun in the digital HF side.

| I can't say anything about that particular set up, as I don't recall even hearing of them before. I have my 450d hooked up with a Signalink and a serial cable, and my Dad has his with the Yaesu interface. Both are a little bit more on the $ side than what I saw on your linked page. I already had the Signalink for my V71, so just had to get the cable, set the jumper connections, and pick up a cheap serial cable to get my up and running so that made my decision on it pretty easy. |

have you experienced any problems utilizing the SLinkUSB and the 450 on/with Digital Modes? Once I had it set up (specifically learning how to set the tx and rx levels) no problems with it at all. I just need to remember to plug the USB cable into the computer before starting the digital mode program I want to use so it sees the USB codec. Having JT65 or PSK signals blast out of the regular speakers when you are not expecting it will certainly wake you up! Only downside to using it that I have found with my limited couple month experience is for anyone looking for a one-cable-to-the-pc solution is that it does not not handle any kind of rig control. To be fair though, it does not advertise as being able to handle that. Just takes an extra second or two to make sure both the computer and rig are set to the same freq/band/mode. |
