Interesting... looks like the EMT holds up very well Sometimes when I wake up I start thinking about dumb shit... this AM I thought about attempting to make a 43' vertical out of EMT Thankfully I woke up and came to my senses ![]() Hi Hi
My finished length was right at 16ft, so it's pretty stable and easy to mess with. I was thinking about another for 40, but then I realized how tall it would be and decided to just stay with the resonant/fan dipole that I'm working on right now |
| For a short time there was a telescoping fiberglass antenna made in 31' and 42' lengths called the S9 Vertical. I have the 31' version on the corner of my property up 20' in the air. It's TALL, but looks good. My summer goal is to make it functional; coax, remote tuner, radials and most important, Lighting protection. |

I posted about it not long ago because their website looks pretty shady (but is legit from what I am told) but I ultimately didn't buy (yet) as at this point I'm leaning more towards an inverted L. http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_10_22/684953_S9V43_vertical_alpha_antenna_amateurradiostore_com.html https://amateurradiostore.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=99&zenid=12c67b888e28ae54ea793e9979e939b0 |

Well, a little update after working the WPX contest last night and today. Something has decided to play hell with me and is giving me S6+ noise constantly on 20m on the vertical and 15 and 40m on the dipole.I was able to work around it using the settings on the radio, but it is annoying as hell.
On a good note, I determined that the new antenna is a beast on 10m that got me into VK land repeatedly on one call with received signals that sounded like we were talking on the telephone |
