Had the KX3 pan adaptor kit for a while now.  Decided today was a good day to put it together.

45 minutes later it is operating.

The KX3 was easy.  This was so simple I don't know how they call it a kit.  I put together kids toys that were harder.

How long did you have it sitting before you built it ?

Since July.  I got some Drake receivers from someone and had been playing with them and the Heathkit DX40   It's all his fault.

The guy you got those Drake receivers from is an asshole.
You should have just concentrated on the KX3.

The rock bound cw was kinda fun. But I have spent more time cleaning and getting everything working that operating them  Still have to go through the VFO for the Drake.  If I would have just been using my old WN8 call I would have felt like I was back in 1967 and 17 years old again.

I wonder if the guy I got them from uses the new radio he got at Dayton.

A well-written manual will do that for you.

Want a really fun build? Do a K1 or K2. They're about as close to the old Heathkits as one can get these days.
