I have an older Cushcraft R7000+ that did not include the matching network. The folks that gave it to me do not remember seeing it when they moved but if they locate it will send to me.
I checked with Cushcraft and the MN from the R8 is compatible but costs about $200. I am curious as to whether I can attach a remote auto antenna tuner directly instead of the matching network. It is not a lot of $ more and if it will work would possibly give me better impedance matching on all available frequencies than the MN8. There are likely better antennas available today but this was free and it used to belong to Arthur Collins top technician so I would like to use it if I can just for sentimental sake. I will buy the MN8 if that is required to get it operational but am curious if this may be a viable solution. |

Good Day, The R-series antennas are loaded 'end feds' meaning the impedance will be high with out it. You will need the match box to load it up. You might advertise for a used one that came off an antenna that was otherwise broken in the wind, moving etc. 73, Rob |
