Pulled the LNR Precision 10/20/40 Trail Triendly over a few branches as high as I could reach, and switched on the FT-817 to 20m SSB. Conditions weren't great with deep fades, and I made 4 or 5 contacts ranging from Kansas to Texas. Called CQ a few more times and a 9 station comes back to me. Thought I misheard his callsign the first time so I ask for a repeat. Nope, I heard him correctly. It's a EI9 station from Ireland. Not bad for SSB QRP       |
Summit around here = ship channel bridge.

I see you are using the endfed horizontally. I have always used mine vertically. Was this just due to a lack of taller vegetation? |

BTW: I carry the rifle on a sling. It's pretty isolated where I was at, and it's pretty common to have folks shooting in the National Forest and most hikers are used to it. They can call the cops all they want but it's perfectly legal to walk around and shoot with whatever you want up here. |
