I spend some time in the detached garage when the weather is nice.  One thing that has been lacking is a remote/backup QTH.  HT's work for receive but I wanted something with a little more power to transmit.  I finally bought a nice mechanics tool chest and started customizing it.  On my todo list was to add lights and flip the power strip so that the switch was towards the front of the box.   While I had the power strip disassembled I added a switch and wiring for the lights.  I ran them inside the side wall for protection.  This weekend I picked up the LEDs at the local hamfest and got them mounted.

I added a battery and used one of the Hardened Power Systems BatCaps to make the connection solid.  I need to get a radio now and mount it to the box, antennas, etc.  Instead of mounting it to the workbench, I wanted something that was moveable, sort of a gobox for the garage.  I am thinking of getting a detached faceplate radio and putting it on the back wall with the radio body mounted in the dead space under the top shelf.  Still a bit of work to go but here is what I have so far.

Nice.  What kind of battery did you add?

Right now it is a 12Ah AGM.  It is setup with PowerPoles so that I can change things up as needed.
