Ha that's what I was listening to this AM.

I'm new to HF and just got a G5RV strung up in the attic yesterday.
This morning was a bit rainy so I was trolling the 20 meter band.
Caught the ham working the lightship LS Huron out of Port Huron MI.
Man he was busy

I'm operating N5E, Tall Ship Elissa, in Galveston, Texas on 24.960MHz.

We have other stations on 18.160, and somewhere on 20m and 15m.

Love to catch you from Virginia. I've done well with TX, but need at least 4 more ships.
I hear better than xmit on 15m based on this weekend's experience.

UPDATE; listening in on 18.160, there seems to be a net at 4pm edt 20:02 utc.

Too close, can't hear you.     Got you last year, though.

Actually, I'm not hearing  many ships, at all.  I hear everyone talking to ships, but no ships.

I requested naval gunfire from the Kidd and it went right over the operator's head.

I was given an explanation that the weapons systems were too old to use yada yada yada.

You don't say!  Really? Whoda ever thought such a thing?

Some guys never seem to get it.

Still...good on ya for trying.  It's funny as hell and I am sure someone in the room got a kick out of it.

I forgot...like usual.

I'll be on Currahee October 3rd this year, I expect to get some whack call from you every year.

I worked a ship either last year or the year before and I worked a destroyer and asked for naval gunfire and he went STRAIGHT to the CIC/FDC and we did a 2 round fire mission.

When the mission was complete the operator told me to make sure I checked out the gams on the tomato in Stars and Stripes!

There are times when a man's just gotta do what he's gotta do.

Besides, it's always a good thing to see an spavined old warrior jump back into action.

Now that I mention it, I don't do a whole lot that most of you guys have thought of doing but didn't.
