BTW, they have a sale on HRD software now. 10% off until the end of the month.
I had to buy it because the old version did not support my radio. It works but I keep loosing connection to the radio anytime I press Brake Release button on my Hy-Gain rotator controller. Weird. The rest of the USB devices work fine on the same computer.

Did 6.0 stop that problem.

Most of the time when I hit my built in tuner, HRD 5.0 disconnects.

I'm still running the free version.

When My station PC was an old XP machine, I had nothing but trouble with HRD.

I upgraded to Win7 when XP support ended, and I've had no trouble with it since.

I run a TS-590

That may be the secret to using win8.

If it weren't for the win7 like desktop mode I wouldn't get anything done.
But my wife who thinks of computers as glorified typewriters likes win8.

Version 5 did not support my radio. It worked partially when I selected FTDX5000. Version 6.x does support my rig (FTDX3000) but I'm having connection issues. It's connected through a USB port on my radio. It works fine even when I transmitted at 1,500 Watts but every time I hit the brake release button on my rotator controller, it loses connection. I've tried RF chokes, expensive shielded USB cables, rerouting and separating rotator control cable etc. Nothing seems to help. All the rest of the USB devices connected to the computer have no issues.
This is why I don't like using computers with ham radios. I spend time chasing ghosts and troubleshooting or reinstalling software instead of chasing DX.
