Just moved, put up antenna on a mast in the middle of a tree. Had great transmission and great reception than blamo, I'm getting
out, but nothing but static on reception. I swapped out cable with a brand new RG8 and problem still exists. I don't know where to look for problem. Oh yeah I also extended the mast another 4 feet when I swapped cables. Running a Yaesau YT7900 in garage. Antenna Comet-NCG GP-3 |

Well..... if you changed radios and still had the problem, then you changed feedlines and still had the problem, there is only one thing left.
Well, maybe that is simplistic. You say it works fine on transmit and only doesn't work on receive ? How was this determined ? Do you have any kind of test equipment ? An Antenna analyzer ? A wattmeter ? An SWR bridge that works on VHF ? |

Since I posted this yesterday, I have learned that my transmission has also degraded so obviously I have a short in my antenna. Thanks for all of the input gentleman. |
