I was having my pine straw bailed. Yes I bail my pine straw. I have a ton of longleaf pine which produce foot long pine straw that sells very well when bailed. They use a machine similar to a hay bailer. Anyway it caught one of my radials for my vertial. I'm glad it eventually broke the connector at the radial plate or it might have pulled down my antenna or worse ripped up all 32 radials. The aventures of ham radio I guess lol. |

My lawn-care people somehow managed to chop the middle of my LMR400 run to my vertical, but somehow spared the 5-conductor cable that goes to the tuner...
The run that replaced it is 6" below the surface... And now it has fresh sod over it. Be glad you just lost a radial, I could see someone getting sued for a vertical falling on them while doing yard work. |

The lawn care folks know to look out for my RG-11 'cuz I have dayglo pink ribbon tied around it every 10 feet. I roll it up whenever I'm not operating because of lightning.
He once hit a 1/2" diameter cable with one of his zero-turns and it screwed the mower up big time, so he's very leery of the coax. |

| On a similar noteā¦I'm working on a friend's GMRS station for his farm. Hard to have guyed tower when you're dealing with implements in excess of 30 feet wide. John Deere 8300R series don't care if you got plows in the ground and you hit pavement (I actually know guys who have fallen asleep with the GPS driving and plowed pavement). |
