Anyone here running an old school station monitor? With the new amp I got a little paranoid about my station performance, so I picked up a coupler (I hate that they call them "samplers") from http://www.cleanrf.com/. As it turns out my paranoia was misplaced, as everything about the Flex is "dB accurate", so as long as the metering says I'm not doing something dumb I'm not, but it sure is fun and mesmerizing to watch the scope.

I pressed my venerable BK1474 into service for this. It's now motivating me to buy one of the Owon digital storage scopes. It's hard to beat the price on the Chinese test equipment, like the Owon, Rigol and others. Sorry for the crappy scope photos...

I thought about it back when I was running a lot of AM ragchew. The feeling passed, and I moved on to other things.

Pics of the coupler.

I have those Clean RF samplers running into a Chinese scope. Or I should say, I did. I don't have it connected right now but I own it.

I also have the Clean RF sampler for AM which I did have inline all the time when I was running AM. I have gotten out of AM. I was running vintage rigs and of course they would last a few months at a time before they broke down. I got tired of it.

I was fooling around with the AM guys on 3873. Early evening is OK, but then things devolve into politics or worse. AM looks good. Again the whole "dB accurate" thing on the Flex, and on the digital audio software as well. That three band compressor/limiter is the cat's meow and really keeps me out of trouble. I suspect the station monitor will go by the wayside since it all runs smooth as silk. Someday when I get an Anan I can use the coupler for running PureSignal.

I used to all the time, until my little B&K 1405 scope took a dump. Now I have the Yaesu YO-101 scope on my FT-101 station, but nothing on my "modern" IC-706 station.

Yeah, once Bob gets enough beer in him, he starts to say things he shouldn't. Tom doesn't help things either, lol.

I don't currently, but plan to get one for the Kenwood TS-530. The station monitor they had with the set-up looks cool.

I used a scope with a gimmic capacitor to monitor my signal on AM back when I was hanging out on 3885.

After it's all set up it's not that useful but it's cool to look at it while you're talking
