Hey fellas got a buddy that his grandfather just passed away and he was very into Ham radios, I was looking at them last night he probly has 8-10 different radios (some look real old) and a bunch of different microphones and all kinds of parts. My question is there any name or brand that
I should look for thats better than another or more desired, I dont want this stuff to end up in a dumpster if they cant find anyone interested in it and I know nothing about Ham radios.Dont have any pics now but possibly going back this weekend so maybe I could get some then.Any info would be great Thanks |

It could be a pile of junk and it could be several thousands of dollars worth of gear. If you can find a make and model you can quickly Google it. Some vintage gear fetches good money, some doesn't. See if you can take pictures and post them here. Don't let the stuff be thrown away until someone who knows what they are looking at goes over it.

Thanks guys I will try and get pics and get some info on models.I wouldnt think its junk just because of how much this guy was into it,he has two pretty big antennas in his yard one of them has to be thirty + feet tall.
But like I said I know zero about this subject |

Some good name brands to look for are:
Yaesu, Hallicrafters, Collins, Icom, Kenwood, Heathkit, Drake to name a few off the top of my head. Like posted above, don't let any of it get in the trash before figuring out what it all is. Some of the old rigs like Collins bring big $$$. |

I find a lot of guys who stored the old FM stuff in anticipation of converting it for repeater use or re-selling it and pass before they have time to off load it. |
| Well I went back today and they asked me if I wanted one or two so I said sure the models that I took are yaesu mark v ft-1000 mp and that one was hooked up to an ameritron amplifier the other one is a yaesu ft101e and that one is hooked up to a Denton amplifier both have a foot pedal also hooked to them.other things are two vibroplex "bugs" which the serial numbers are six digits also an astatic mic and keyboard with a device called a Mfj memory keyer.i don't anything about any of this but I did grab a radio amateurs handbook |

While not "top of line" certainly very good gear, all the same, nothing to sneeze at. Do get photos and model of the gear. |

You've got a great station there with the FT-1000 and AL-80B. Not super new but it can hold its own. The AL-80 and its bigger brother the AL-82 are both great amps, I'd love to have either one.
The mic alone sells for over $100 new and brings close to that at auction used. |

So do you think that the ft-1000 is the one I should try and setup and maybe get rid of the other one?also what else from the description I gave am I missing? |

Ok what would the power supply look like or would it say power supply right on it?or do I just plug it in to the wall?there are still all kinds of little boxes that look like meters also |

Definitely get the "bugs". Even high serial numbers will bring good money commensurate with condition. Look on eBay for idea of what is being asked. Just search under "telegraph key bug" I will check eBay out.i did grab two of them serial numbers 272992 and 381180 |
